BW Portrait

So, this is me.

For some reason people seem to think that picture is a little scary for a youth pastor… I just think it’s more fun.

Anyway, my brief bio:

Grew up in semi-rural Indiana. Went to college at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Met future wife. While there, got pretty closely attached to InnerCHANGE, a mission order among the poor. Check them out in the Links page.

Senior year of college, I started getting really interested in photography. By this point, it was too late to sign up for classes, but I got a decent camera, volunteered for the college newspaper, and learned a whole lot of stuff from Strobist (again, Links page).

In 2006, I got married. My wife and I then proceeded to graduate the next day. I graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, focused on Urban Ministry.

After graduation, we moved into the city, and I couldn’t get a job with my Interdisciplinary Studies degree.

Go figure.

I worked as an EMT for a private ambulance company. I’m still certified as an EMT-B, although I don’t work for them anymore.

Now I’m the youth pastor at my church, and a part-time photographer on the side. Both are awesome jobs, and both take a lot of work. Unfortunately, neither of them pay enough yet that I could only do one of them.

Money is dumb.

So, we take it in stride, pray that the Lord does something useful here, and trust He’ll keep preparing me for every next step.

I’m not really capable of doing much more than that.

  1. Nice pic… a bit of Grisim from CSI. Love the Bio. I’m doing youth ministry full-time now with a degree in Music Edu. Who would have thought?

Love the photography, I really need to get out and shoot more.
