So, a range of experiences so far this Thanksgiving at home.

The hardest part, of course, was getting home from Chicago.  This might be simpler as a math equation…

Rain + darkness + poor visibility + near accidents + other drivers who are jerks + extra busy Thanksgiving traffic = rather cranky Peter.

Rather cranky Peter + flat tire on the on-ramp to I-90 (due in part to drivers who are jerks) + hour and a half at Sears waiting for tired to be replaced + almost 2nd flat tire + 6.5 hour trip home (normally less than 3) = very angry and bitter Peter.

Very angry and bitter Peter + wife = example of an amazingly patient, gracious, and helpful woman.

Guess what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving?

On the bright side, Thanksgiving Day was a lot better.  Got to hang with the family, see my grandparents, take some pictures, enjoy the appearance of beautiful snow, help make my mom’s famous (among our family) rolls, play in a euchre tournament, engage in a thoughtful conversation about the nature of thankfulness and, of course, eat some amazing food.

Pretty tired still from last night’s adventure (staying up later didn’t help, either), but all-in-all, it’s been a pretty good day.

I’m also thankful for vacations.  Reminds me that I need to take the Sabbath more seriously, it’s good for the soul.
